Why fill this survey?

 

CFT Canada and ADICQ get involved and take the initiative to make changes in the industry! These changes are required, necessary and beneficial. All industry stakeholders will benefit from this initiative.

 

 

The organization taking on this task is the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) and are asking for your participation in an industry survey critical to the profession of Dangerous Goods Transportation Professionals. The goal of the survey is to determine the essential tasks performed by and knowledge areas required by today’s dangerous goods transportation professionals in order to create a credential ISO/ANSI for this field.

 

While dangerous goods professionals work in a variety of settings, this survey depends on your individual opinion relating to your role as a dangerous goods transportation professional.

 

The survey is divided into four sections:


Demographic information - The information you provide in this section will be used to ensure that a representative sample of responses is received, thus providing a better understanding of the variations in the job performances.


Task ratings – This section lists twelve tasks performed by dangerous goods transportation professionals. You are asked to rate each task on three scales: (1) Importance of task to successful job performance, (2) Criticality of the task to the avoiding harm and (3) Frequency of which you perform the task.


Knowledge ratings – This section lists the areas of knowledge a dangerous goods transportation professional should have. The knowledge areas are broken into seven broad domains. Each domain has knowledge areas within it to further delineate the knowledge required. You are asked to rate the knowledge areas within each domain on three scales: (1) Importance of knowledge area to successful job performance, (2) Criticality of the knowledge area to the avoiding harm and (3) Frequency of which you personally use your knowledge in this area.


Additional Comments – A panel of subject matter experts (SME’s), representing diverse backgrounds, education, work experiences, and geographic locations, identified this list of tasks and important knowledge areas. However, if after completing the survey you feel that there are critical tasks or knowledge areas that were not included, you will have an opportunity to communicate them so they can be reviewed and added where appropriate.
